Celebrating Two New Elementary Schools in North Providence

Congrats to North Providence School Department on the opening of two new beautiful elementary schools!

EnrichEd is proud to work closely with the North Providence schools. We have an EnrichEd program at Woodhaven, and we also serve Whelan students through our EnrichEd Stephen Olney location. Being part of the North Providence community gives us a firsthand look at the dedication that goes into creating positive learning experiences for local children and families.

The EnrichEd Executive Director and Educational Coordinator/District Supervisor recently joined Mayor Charles Lombardi, Governor Dan McKee, Rhode Island Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Angélica Infante-Green, town and state officials, representatives from Shawmut Design and Construction, and students from each school for ribbon-cutting ceremonies celebrating the completion of these exciting projects.

The ceremonies took place on Wednesday, September 2, at Dr. Joseph A. Whelan Elementary School at 1440 Mineral Spring Ave. and Woodhaven Elementary School at 100 Morgan Ave.

The new schools represent an exciting investment in North Providence students and the community. With modern learning spaces, updated facilities, and environments designed to support today’s students, these new buildings provide children with spaces where they can learn, grow, explore, and build lasting memories.

According to a release from Mayor Lombardi’s office, “With the completion of these projects, North Providence marks a historic milestone as the only community in Rhode Island with all new elementary schools.” The release also highlighted the town’s commitment to providing high-quality learning environments for its youngest residents.

At EnrichEd, we know that a child’s learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends. Our before and after school programs are an extension of the school community, providing children with opportunities for enrichment, homework support, creativity, exploration, and meaningful connections with their peers and teachers.

We are excited to see the students and families of Whelan and Woodhaven begin this next chapter in their new schools. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the North Providence School Department and supporting students throughout the school day and beyond.

Congratulations, North Providence! We are excited to celebrate this milestone with you and look forward to all that these new schools will bring to the community.
