Child And Adult Food Care Program Announced

Nutritious meals and snacks available at no cost to local students

Lincoln, North Providence, & North Smithfield, RI – EnrichEd announces the sponsorship of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).  This program is designed to provide meals for participants in any non-residential public or private nonprofit institution that provides child or adult day care. Meals are available to all enrolled participants without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activities, age or disability and will be served at no separate charge.

EnrichEd is the new name for Kids Klub, Inc. Back in 1987, Kids Klub was co-founded by Dr. Mary Ann Shallcross Smith. Originally a single location in Lincoln, RI, today the program has evolved into many locations throughout Rhode Island. As we’ve grown, so has our mission. EnrichEd continues to offer nationally accredited nonprofit before and after school programs for local elementary school students.

Participation in the CACFP is an indicator of quality child care. Child care providers can receive reimbursement through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program when they serve healthy, nutritious foods, reassuring parents that the providers’ top priority is the well-being and development of the children in their care. Research proves that good nutrition in young children not only contributes to their physical growth, but to their intellectual and emotional development as well. Children who participate in the CACFP have the opportunity to develop positive eating habits that will lead to a lifetime of good eating habits and good health.

The CACFP brings healthy foods to tables across the country for children in child care centers, homes, and afterschool programs as well as adults in day care.

USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.

Students enrolled in EnrichEd programs also receive homework assistance, enrichment opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, engaging learning centers, and opportunities to extend learning beyond the school day. Through a partnership with the EnhancEd Support Services program, EnrichEd offers families resources to identify students who need support and link them to appropriate services. EnhancEd offers services in an inclusive, integrated environment by licensed mental health professionals to meet the needs of all children.

EnrichEd charges weekly tuition rates and accepts Rhode Island DHS child care subsidy for families that qualify. Child care assistance program subsidies can help make before-and after-school programs accessible for eligible families who may otherwise struggle to find affordable out-of-school-time options. To defray the cost of child care, EnrichEd accepts the Cabrini Fund (scholarship through the Dioceses of Providence) and Child Care Aware (military assistance).  EnrichEd also provides tuition scholarships through the EnrichEd Fund to families that are income eligible, but whose income exceeds the Rhode Island DHS child care subsidy program.
